How it works
A Unix timestamp counts seconds since 1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC. Timestamps ≥ 1e12 are treated as milliseconds. The tool builds a Date object and renders it in ISO 8601, UTC and your local timezone; the reverse direction parses any date string via the Date parser.
Frequently asked questions

Midnight UTC on January 1, 1970 — the zero point from which Unix timestamps count seconds.
Seconds or milliseconds?
Unix timestamps are traditionally in seconds, but JavaScript's Date.now() returns milliseconds. This tool auto-detects which one you entered.
